What road are you travelling on? This morning I drove back to Roswell from Americus, GA. Americus is where Millard Fuller built his first house, founded Habitat Humanity and later the Fuller Center for Housing. Americus is also the host city of the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Camp.
I’ve been making the trip down to Americus to help lead the Camp with Robbie & Patty Robertson for over ten years now. Each year, about 100 students who demonstrate leadership throughout Georgia, who seem to be on a path to making a difference, are chosen to attend. I’ve found that in Americus, they don’t just build houses, they build lives. This year Susan Carter Ruckman led the charge with another wonderful camp that invested in our youth and their leadership—our future.
South Georgia Technical College provides housing for these 100 students. They do this because they believe in hope, they believe in making a difference, and they want to see our youth become a success. Today I noticed that they even named one of their streets Success Ave.
If you believe in something, you should talk about it you should live it, you should dress the part and most of all, you should do something about it. Heck, even name a street after it. In Americus, they are paving the road to success that our future will travel on.
Are you?
Drink Coffee. Do Good.
